TST’s Annual General Meeting was held on 7 December 2019 at the Wairakei Resort in Taupō. It was great to see 330 of our registered members in attendance and we enjoyed the opportunity to kōrero with you all and receive valuable feedback.
To make it easier for our members, once again TST and the Tūwharetoa Māori Trust Board joined forces to hold their AGMs on the same day at the same venue. This year the Trust Board AGM was held in the morning, followed by a fantastic Christmas luncheon, and with the TST AGM being held in the afternoon.
During the AGM members got to hear from our Deputy Chair, Hon. Dame Georgina Te Heuheu on the role of TST now and into the future. Our Chair, Rakeipoho Taiaroa also delivered his report for the 2019/19 financial year which included an overview of our Strategic Plan, equity growth and our increasing collaboration with the Tūwharetoa Māori Trust Board, and Ngāti Tūwharetoa Fisheries Charitable Trust.
General Manager, Greg Stebbing presented the operations report which detailed some key highlights achieved in 2019. These included:
- Strong earnings of $7.4 million
- Growth in equity of more than $5.2 million
- Increased distributions – from $960,000 to $976,000
- A refreshed TST website
- The launch of a new shared membership database with TMTB and NTF in January 2019.
All resolutions put forward at the AGM were passed.
The AGM also included a special update on the TST housing strategy. This followed a survey which was conducted amongst registered members in November 2019 to better understand the housing needs of our members. Members were excited to hear about the work TST is doing in this space and we can expect more information on this over the coming months.
